WORK EXPERIENCE

  • I managed all Central Texas developments, from acquisition to lease-up. Throughout the design, pre-development, and construction phases, I diligently oversaw development schedules and budgets, ensuring that each project proceeded smoothly and within financial constraints.

Arden at Kohler's Crossing - Kyle, TX

I had the privilege of leading a transformative mixed-use project that breathed new life into an underdeveloped area, perfectly aligning with our city's masterplan. My responsibilities included managing crucial relationships with the General Contractor, engaging in contract negotiations, and adeptly handling RFIs. Leveraging our in-house construction expertise was instrumental in ensuring that we stayed within our budget despite the unpredictable fluctuations in construction costs. Collaborating closely with design and engineering consultants, we carefully selected native, low-irrigation plants and preserved existing trees, enhancing the site's sustainability. Furthermore, I developed a tailored marketing and lease-up strategy in close partnership with our property management team, ensuring the project's success from start to finish.

Arden at Ritchie - Waco, TX

A 278-unit garden-style, family-oriented HUD project strategically positioned near a new school in Waco's burgeoning growth path. Working closely with the acquisitions team, I conducted extensive market research and feasibility studies, diligently identifying environmental and resource constraints. To ensure the project's success, I coordinated with engineers, utility providers, and city officials to facilitate utility provision to the ETJ site. Collaborating with design consultants, we envisioned community-centric housing featuring a range of amenities such as co-working spaces, green areas, and a community garden. Throughout the project, I maintained strict adherence to HUD compliance, safeguarding its viability and legal standing.

Additionally oversaw Arden 231, Arden at Solm’s Landing, Arden at Culebra, and Arden at Kissing Tree Projects

  • I led the due diligence efforts for several substantial multifamily projects exceeding $100 million in value. This encompassed overseeing proformas, schedules, entitlements and permits to ensure the projects' feasibility and compliance. My role also involved fostering collaboration among investors, consultants, design teams, and the City of Austin to collectively work towards the success of these significant endeavors.

    Northwend - Austin, TX

I led an affordable transit-oriented mixed-use development proposal situated along the Project Connect Orange Line. As part of Northwend's team, I took charge of leading the feasibility study, meticulously identifying key constraints, and driving the acquisition process, which included extensive negotiations with the seller.

In this in-house design-development project, I played a pivotal role in conceptualizing the site plan, working closely with our finance team to establish proforma assumptions. Collaboration with civil engineers allowed us to address regrading issues, optimizing the site's usability for maximum efficiency.

Furthermore, I successfully negotiated new zoning and overlays with the city, a strategic move that significantly enhanced the site's density and its overall development potential. This project was a testament to our dedication to creating sustainable and community-focused developments in transit-friendly locations.

Additionally coordinated entitlement and permitting efforts Burleson (PFC), East Riverside Condominiums (LITCH, Density Bonus, TOD)Projects

  • Oversaw design teams to execute multifamily and high-end residential projects from initial concept to construction documentation

    Arroweye House -Austin, TX,

Nestled within Austin's picturesque hill country, the residence stands as a testament to sustainable design with a minimal footprint, seamlessly integrated natural elements, and a thoughtfully designed breezeway to enhance airflow and boost energy efficiency.

Throughout this project, I led client meetings, where I skillfully set design briefs and guided value engineering discussions, ensuring that the client's unique needs and vision were always at the forefront of our efforts.

I developed strategies for wildflower preservation, further enhancing the site's natural landscape and its connection to the surrounding environment.

In addition, I conducted comprehensive energy efficiency studies and played a pivotal role in coordinating efforts between design consultants, construction teams, and city authorities. This was essential in overcoming challenging site conditions, resulting in a functional and constructible design that harmoniously blended with its natural surroundings while maximizing energy efficiency.

Additionally contributed to the design and construction administration of the Cliff Drive Residence and the Bold Ruler House

  • I was part of a multidisciplinary team entrusted with the design and construction of Stanford's Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital. Throughout this project, our approach was deeply rooted in collaboration, and we worked closely with hospital staff and patients to gain a profound understanding of their unique pain points and challenges. This invaluable feedback was then seamlessly integrated into the design, ensuring that the hospital would not only meet but exceed the needs of its patients and healthcare professionals, ultimately creating a space that prioritized comfort, functionality, and well-being.

+RELATED EXPERIENCE

  • My work involved an extensive study of housing development in Austin spanning the past five decades. I delved into the intricate web of demographic shifts, transit development, property value fluctuations, and zoning regulations. By meticulously evaluating this data, I discerned critical patterns that have historically influenced housing development in the city.

Moreover, I applied this in-depth analysis to gain insights into how public policy has played a pivotal role in either exacerbating or potentially alleviating housing inequity in Austin. This work aimed to inform future policy decisions and initiatives, with the ultimate goal of fostering a more equitable and sustainable housing landscape for the city's residents.

  • I pioneered the NOxapture tile project, which harnessed the power of photocatalysis to effectively neutralize airborne pollutants. One of the key innovations in this project was the engineering of a unique maximalist tile design. This design was meticulously crafted to optimize airflow disruption, increase surface area, and enhance TiO2 exposure, resulting in superior pollutant neutralization capabilities. Additionally, we conducted thorough assessments to ensure the implementability of sustainable materials in real-world applications. The NOxapture tile project represented a significant stride toward a cleaner and more environmentally friendly future

+COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

  • Category: Furr-niture

As part of the Kalterra team, I had the privilege of collaborating with LRK architects to design and bring to life the unique "Sub-Woofer" record player table and dog bed hybrid. The concept behind this innovative piece involved using CNC cut boards that were carefully assembled to create the profile of a dog. This creative design not only served as a functional record player table but also provided a cozy space for accommodating a pet, making it a versatile and stylish addition to any home.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this project was that it was auctioned to raise funds for the SPCA, contributing to the welfare of animals in need. It was a wonderful example of how design and creativity could be harnessed to make a positive impact on our community and support a worthy cause.

  • I was part of the team that envisioned and built a remarkable 430-micro-home community for formerly homeless individuals. Situated on a 50-acre site just outside Austin city limits, this initiative was born out of concerns about rising real estate prices and the need for affordable housing. Today, it stands as a flourishing community that not only provides shelter but also offers essential services such as healthcare and sustainable food production. Additionally, it hosts a range of community events that have successfully bridged the gap with nearby homeowners, many of whom initially opposed its presence.

In the development of this community, I collaborated closely with local designers to contribute to the design and functionality of the micro-homes, ensuring they met the unique needs of the residents while promoting sustainability and efficiency.

Furthermore, I had the opportunity to present this project to my peers at the University of Texas at Austin, where I passionately advocated for sustainable housing solutions to support the homeless population. This experience reinforced my commitment to making a positive impact through innovative and inclusive housing initiatives.
